Latching DC Connectors from CLIFF Electronics Prevent Critical Power Loss.

Latching DC Connectors from Cliff Electronics

CLIFF Electronics announces the introduction of a new range of latching DC plugs and sockets designed for where it is critical that power is not interrupted by accidental disconnection. Applications include medical, data, monitoring, emergency lighting and equipment charging.

The new Cliff locking DC plugs and sockets are secured by a simple push and turn locking mechanism. They are available with diameters of either 2.1 or 2.5 mm and rated 2A @ 16V DC. Plugs may be supplied on their own or as ready wired two-metre, over-moulded, two-meter, over-molded, plug cables with free ends suitable for use by external power supply manufacturers.

The PCB mountable sockets have an insulation resistance of 100MΩ minimum at 500 V DC, a dielectric withstand voltage of 500 V AC for one minute and feature a normally closed contact operated by inserting a plug.

John Hall, General Manager of CLIFF Electronics, comments; “These latest additions to our expanding range of low voltage two-pole DC plugs and sockets follow the great success of our unique dual gauge DC sockets, which accept a 2.1 or 2.5 mm diameter plug in a single socket.”.

Cliff has a range of two-pole, low-voltage DC plugs and sockets from 1.3 mm to 2.5 mm diameter, in SMD, SMDT, PCB and solder-tag variants.

For further details, please see the DC Power Connectors page.

Cliff also supplies a range of multi-pin, (one to nine), locking plugs and sockets for both AC and DC applications, including 20A per contact and IP68 variants.

Cliff products are available direct, (for manufacturers), or from a number of major distributors. Cliff locking DC connectors are available from Farnell element 14 in the UK. Newark element 14 in the USA.
