CliffCon® Touchproof Plug and Socket Connectors

 

Intended for any application where a high quality, reliable, locking, touch-proof connector system is required. The CliffCon® range of connectors are tough and durable four or eight pole plugs and sockets. Designed for high power applications, contacts are touch-proof and meet the safety requirements of IEC 65/348. Features include an easy, foolproof locking mechanism and high reliability wiping contacts.

 

Models

• 4 PC series - 4 pole straight or 90° plugs, for high or low voltage and either chassis or PCB mounting sockets
• 8 PC series - 8 pole 90° plug and chassis mounting socket with optional dust cover
• Line connector for coupling two plugs for cable extensions (4 pole)

 

General Features

• Touch-proof contacts to EN60065, IEC348, IEC 1010-1.
• Safety leading ground pin which makes first and breaks last to prevent damage from arcing if disconnected under load .
• Built in cable clamp 6mm ~ 15mm.
• Combination Faston® quick disconnect and screw / solder connections with clearly marked pin identification inside the line connectors.

 

CliffCon® 4 Pole Connector

Our range of 4 pole Cliffcon®s are available in straight or 90° versions and have now been designated low voltage (blue) and high voltage (red).

 

CliffCon® Blue (LV) is for uses under 120V AC such as speakers, amplifiers, battery chargers and vehicle use. Maximum current at pole is 20A, (30A).

 

CliffCon® Red (HV) is for uses up to 250V AC such as lighting and power connections. Maximum current at pole is 20A, (30A).

 

Only plugs and sockets of the same colour color are compatible, so red plugs cannot be plugged into blue sockets and vice versa. This allows the use of both kinds of connector on the same equipment with no chance of mismatching the connections. Convenient Faston, screw and solder connections. Chassis connectors are air-tight and fit the same cut-outs as XLR connectors. Our original black version remains available. However, we suggest users change to the HV and LV versions for new designs.

• Rated Voltage: Blue (LV) 120 V;  Red (HV) 250 V AC maximum, (connections electrically identical, only the designation is LV and HV).
• Contact Resistance New: < 3 mΩ.
• Capacitance between Terminals: < 1.5 pf.
• Insulation Resistance: > 20 MΩ @ 4000 V.
• Inrush Current: > 30 A / 20 mS.
• Operating Voltage: -20 °C to +80 °C
• Recommended Wiring: 1+, 1- CH A (L) 2+, 2- CH B (R) pin 1 designated for earth (+ inphase, - ground).
• Contacts: gold plated.
• Maximum Wire Size: 6 mm² / 10 AWG (solid) 4mm² / 12 AWG (stranded).

 

 

CliffCon® 8 Pole Connector

Our 8 pole CliffCon® is primarily intended for use in lighting applications. Rated maximum 30A 250V AC. It can be used for any industrial application which needs a touch-proof connection system of up to 8 pole. General features are similar to our 4 pole version. 8 pole is only made in one 90° black version. A dust cover is available for the chassis socket. Connections to the socket may be made by soldering or Faston receptacle and to the plug by soldering or screw.
